Oncology cytogenetics, or cancer cytogenetics, is a field of study focusing on identifying the genes responsible for the development of malignant cancers. More specifically, oncology cytogenetics involves examination of biological tissue for alterations in genetic components of cells that could lead to cancer. Oncology cytogenetics aims to understanding cancer in order to advance drug development.
