Our Microbiology Virtual Event is inching closer and we're continuing to highlight some of our keynote speakers! If you haven't done so already, head on over to the
Microbiology Virtual Event page and sign up/register to save yourself a spot.
One of our many keynote speakers at the event will be
Dr. Phil Stewart who the Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Montana State University. Dr. Stewart will be presenting his keynote titled:
The Science of Biofilm Control with Antimicrobial Agents where he will discuss fundamental physical, chemical and biological concepts important to understanding control of detrimental biofilms. In particular, he'll be examining four phenomena that are important in the action of antimicrobial agents against a biofilm: diffusion, hydrodynamics, physiology and the genetic basis of biofilm tolerance.
The learning objectives for the keynote are highlighted below:
- Explain two general mechanisms of biofilm protection from antimicrobial agents
- Contrast killing and removal processes in biofilms
- Discuss fundamental phenomena important in the interaction of an antimicrobial agent with biofilm
For those of you who are interested in seeing Dr. Stewart speak, you'll be able to catch him on September 2nd at 7:30am Pacific time. Be sure to check out other speakers that are speaking at the event as well.
