Here's How the World Would Change Without a Moon

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

The Moon is the brightest object in the night sky when visible, and it's just as mysterious as it is captivating. But have you ever stopped to think about how the Earth would change in the Moon suddenly disappeared?

It's common knowledge that the Moon's gravitational influence on the Earth impacts tides around the world, but the Moon also keeps the Earth's weather in check by stabilizing the ocean's cold and warm water. In turn, this makes weather more predictable.

If the Moon disappeared, tidal changes around would wreak havoc on marine wildlife around the world, and it would become more challenging to predict the weather. But beyond that, the Moon's disappearance could potentially alter the Earth's tilt and cause significant global temperature changes that would make Earth inhabitable for humans.

Given just how much we take the Moon for granted, let's hope that it doesn't disappear anytime soon. It plays an instrumental role in making Earth a beautiful place to live.
