How Your Body Responds to 1 Piece of Chocolate

WRITTEN BY: Xuan Pham

In 2015, Americans spent approximately $18.27 billion on chocolate. It's a treat that satisfies the sweet tooth like none other.

Chocolate comes from the cacao beans, made tasty with the addition of sugar and fat. Dark chocolate is the most concentrated in cocoa solids, with less butter and sugar, as compared to milk and white chocolates. And it's also the dark chocolate that's been linked to health benefits, such as reducing inflammation and increasing the "good" cholesterol (HDL).
