Chromatography is a laboratory technique which separates components within a mixture. Purification can be achieved with chromatography by applying a mixture containing solid and liquid matter to a surface which separates the components. This can be done using a column which collects the solid component, which may include impurities, and allows the liquid component to pass through. This method can be used to remove impurities from water.
