Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is called a placental hormone because it is produced primarily by syncytiotrophoblastic cells of the placenta during pregnancy. The presence of hCG is detected in some pregnancy tests (HCG pregnancy strip tests).
