Forensic Human Identification (HID) is a broad description for the various methods used to identify an individual during a crime investigation. Forensic HID can be done by analyzing DNA from a variety of biological samples, including blood, skin, hair, saliva, or semen. Other methods used for HID do not require DNA samples, such as fingerprint comparisons, bite mark analysis using dental records, or visual comparisons using video recordings capturing an individual's specific gait.
