Intestinal inflammation
Intestinal inflammation describes a condition where tissues in the digestive tract are subject to long-term, chronic inflammation. Inflammatory conditions impacting the intestine are known inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Intestinal inflammatory conditions can have a genetic component but can also occur in response to an environmental stimulus, such as a bacterial infection.
