Hepatitis Viruses: Molecular Testing
Molecular biology-based tests, such as real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), are used during the diagnosis and treatment of patients with hepatitis. Molecular tests can evaluate a blood sample for the presence of genetic material, such as RNA, from the hepatitis virus. Further, molecular testing can be used to inform treatment decisions and response to treatment.
