In this webinar, Dr Rachel Marrington, Deputy Director, and Finlay MacKenzie, Director, at Birmingham Quality UK NEQAS, will give an overview of the common interferences seen in the laboratory: Haemolysis, Icterus and Lipemia (HIL). Rachel and Finlay will present the results of a large study UK NEQAS has coordinated supported by Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, which looks at the effect of HIL on several common biochemistry analytes across different platforms.
In the second part of this webinar, Natalie Mullee, Principal Clinical Scientist at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust UK, will talk about the electrolyte exclusion effect and the advantages of using direct ion selective electrode (ISE)-based technologies, in particular when analysing samples from cancer patients.
To round off the webinar, Els Melis, EMEA Senior Marketing Manager Clinical Labs Assays at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, will describe how VITROS® technology can help minimise the impact of interferences.
