The human genome project was undertaken to determine the human DNA sequence and analyze variation among individuals. To make use of this information, tools were developed that could collect and analyze all the sequence information being generated. DNA microarray analysis is a major platform for these studies, since hundreds of thousands of defined sequences can be queried at one time. Applied Biosystems™ Axiom™ microarrays incorporate the latest innovations in bioinformatics, fabrication and chemistries into a gold-standard analytical platform. It is the microarray of choice for population-based polygenic risk analysis, dissecting patterns of inheritance, and pharmacogenomics. In this talk, we will discuss how the Axiom family of microarrays are being used by researchers and governmental biobank organizations for these studies.
Learning Objectives
- Understand how microarrays have been instrumental in human genomic analyses and the types of research it facilitates
- Learn how Axiom advancements have supported increased efficiency
- See how microarrays are used by governmental biobanking for predictive genomics
- Find out how microarrays and predictive genomics aid pharmacogenomic analyses, and the benefits of pharmacogenomicss
