Diabetes Screening in High-Risk Populations: What can we do better?

According to the CDC, in the United States, approximately 14.7% of adults have Diabetes, and another 10.8% have prediabetes. Unfortunately, as many as 8.7 million adults aged 18 years or older who met laboratory criteria for diabetes were not aware of or did not report having diabetes- limiting their opportunity for treatment and intervention before complications arise. By understanding the populations most at risk for Type 2 DM, we may have the opportunity to target screening programs and reduce the damage from this prevalent disease. In this webinar, Dr Mrinalini Kulkarni-Date, Chief of Endocrinology at Dell Medical School , The University of Texas at Austin will share her insights as to population at highest risk of Type 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes and the characteristics of programs successful in bettering these statistics.
