Stress is often described as a feeling of being overwhelmed, worried or run-down. Stress can affect people of all ages, genders and circumstances and can lead to both physical and psychological health issues. By definition, stress is any uncomfortable "emotional experience accompanied by predictable biochemical, physiological and behavioral changes." Some stress can be beneficial at times, producing a boost that provides the drive and energy to help people get through situations like exams or work deadlines. However, an extreme amount of stress can have health consequences and adversely affect the immune, cardiovascular, neuroendocrine and central nervous systems.
Cases and deaths continue to increase steadily in most states. The pace of increase is faster than we expected, leading us to revise upward IHME forecast of deaths and cases into the future....
Date: November 19, 2020 Time: 12:00am (PDT), 9:00am (CET), 4:00pm (SGT) We present split-FISH, a multiplexed fluorescence in situ hybridization method that leverages a split-probe design to...
Date: October 8, 2020 Time: 9:00am (PTD), 12:00pm (EDT), 5:00pm (GMT) Small DNA viruses require both host DNA replication and repair factors for their replication. The host cell replication...
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are well-known for their detrimental effects leading to oxidative stress, cell death, aging, and degenerative disorders. However, there is increasing evidence t...
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is the primary technology used to identify genomic targets for vaccine development, detect emerging viral strains and monitor transmission patterns. Enhanced...
Traditionally, virology has been focused in studying the pathogenic effect of viruses. In the recent years, however, this perception is changing and viruses are being studied as mutualistic...
Despite the increasing number of effective anti-cancer therapies, successful treatment is limited by the development of drug resistance. While the contribution of genetic factors to drug res...
Background: Acute liver injury (ALI) is characterised by hepatocyte death and liver inflammation. Macrophages play a pivotal role in ALI by phagocytosing dead cells and producing pro-regener...
Most bladder cancer (BC) cases are non-muscle-invasive BC (NIBMC), which is rarely lethal. However, nearly one-fifth of NMIBC cases progress to muscle-invasive BC (MIBC), which shows a 5-yea...

Analytical Method Validation work is based on a variety of guidelines and requirements hence being time-consuming and stressful. Reducing this work and improving efficiency while ensuring th...
Animal welfare is the most important issue in any in vivo laboratory. The ability to detect and intervene in cases where the conditions of animals may be deteriorating as well as the ability...

Date: April 29, 2020 Time: 8:00AM PDT, 11:00AM EDT Single cell genomics and other next generation sequencing applications depend strongly on adequate upstream sample preparation. Results can...
DATE: April 2, 2020 TIME: 8:00am PT, 11:00am ET Cyclins A2 and E1 regulate the cell cycle by promoting S phase entry and progression. We recently identified a hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)...
DATE: March 24, 2020 TIME: 11:00am PT, 2:00pm ET While in vitro cell culture has long been used to study neurological diseases, researchers have come to the realization that 2-D systems do n...
Neurodegenerative disease research can be considerably accelerated by using fibrillar or oligomeric constructs of prion-like proteins in in vitro or in vivo studies. These exist in a variety...
Learning is often an emotional process. Emotional stimuli with different valences, such as threat and reward, can transform an otherwise neutral sensory input into one that can trigger disti...
We present here a framework to generate a realistic multiscale circuit model of the larval zebrafish brain – the multiscale virtual fish (MVF). The model will be based on algorithms in...
Chaperone networks are dysregulated with aging, but whether compromised Hsp70/Hsp90 chaperone function disturbs neuronal resilience is unknown. Stress‐inducible phosphoprotein 1 (STI1; STIP1...
