The lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs located on either side of the chest (thorax). The trachea (windpipe) conducts inhaled air into the lungs through its tubular branches, called bronchi. The main function of the lungs is the process of gas exchange called respiration (or breathing). Lungs are inside of your rib cage.
Date: March 01, 2022 Time: 10:00am (PST), 1:00pm (EST), 7:00pm (CEST) The high mortality of COVID-19 is mostly attributed to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), whose histopathologic...
Princess Margaret Living Biobank (PMLB) is a repository for patient-derived organoid models. PMLB has generated over200 organoid models from lung, pancreas, colon, ovary, esophageal and brea...
Severe SARS-CoV-2 infection often leads to development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), with profound pulmonary patho-histological changes post-mortem. In this study, we utiliz...
Date: October 13, 2021 Time: 7:00am (PDT), 10:00am (EDT) Western blot analysis is a method widely used in the lab today because of its versatility in detecting and measuring specific target...
Self-amplifying RNA replicons are promising candidates for next generation vaccines against human coronaviruses with pandemic potential. Self-amplification of RNAs in host cells generates mo...
Influenza viruses represent a significant burden to human health. In order to limit respiratory viral disease, new approaches that can prevent viral infection and spread are needed. We have...

New genomic technologies are changing the face of cancer care, as well as accelerating our biological understanding of cancer. Cris will summarise several parallel cancer initiatives in New...
Proximity Ligation Assay (PLA), is a powerful technique for demonstrating the presence of 2 unique targets in direct proximity of each other in tissue sections. It allows visualization of in...
COVID-19 is a severe disease that has caused >1 million deaths in under one year. As this disease is novel, the molecular and cellular underpinnings of the progressive tissue injury are p...
Telomere length (TL) is widely considered a molecular/cellular hallmark of the aging process with implications for multiple diseases. While there has been success in epidemiology and genomew...
