A new study from Northwestern University has linked a deficiency in Vitamin D to more aggressive tumors in prostate cancer. While it's known that deficiency in Vitamin D can indicate other diseases and their severity, this new research showed specific associations between the amount of Vitamin D and the aggressiveness of prostate tumors.
African American men have higher rates of aggressive prostate cancer, as well as higher rates of Vitamin D deficiency. The research could be the beginning of a common link in prostate cancers. The team at Northwestern advised that all men should monitor their Vitamin D levels.
