Patients who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis have new hope based on the results of treatments in the UK. Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield England has a program where patients with MS receive a bone marrow transplant. Normally that procedure is used to treat some forms of cancer. In MS patients, their stem cells are harvested, their immune systems are wiped out and they then receive their healthy stem cells back. Getting back their healthy stem cells has been shown to alleviate many of the crippling results of MS
Royal Hallamshire hopes that more patients can take advantage of the treatment. Check out this video to see one patient's response to the transplant and how he's gotten back to health after his MS diagnosis.
