In case you missed it, NASA launched the InSight mission to Mars from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on May 5th. It was the first interplanetary mission to launch from the West coast of the United States, and it's sure to provide NASA with valuable information about Mars.
In this video, you can experience footage of the Atlas V rocket as it blasts off from the launch pad.
InSight won't arrive at Mars until November of this year, but when it gets there, we can expect to learn some brilliant details about the planet's internal activity. NASA hopes to study Marsquake activity, internal planetary temperature, and orbital wobble, among other things.
