November is Diabetes Awareness Month! November 14th marks the birthday of insulin co-discoverer Dr. Frederick Banting and is recognized globally as World Diabetes Day. It is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about diabetes, a disease that is approaching epidemic proportions globally. Over 100 million Americans are diabetic or prediabetic. 9.4% of the U.S population has diabetes. Almost 25% of people living with diabetes will not even know they are sick. Which is why Education is key in early diagnosis and intervention and even prevention. Let's raise awareness about the rise in diabetes and the steps that can be taken to prevent, diagnose, treat and care for those affected.
